We are incredibly humbled by the sibling duo of Denis Sauve & Denise Hoffman. On Friday, August 12th these incredible individual hosted their first annual “Twins’ Causes” Charity golf tournament at Hammond Golf Course. They raised an impressive $15,123 that they generously donated to the Kelly Project & us here at the Orléans-Cumberland Community Resource Centre. Thank you to Paul Rushforth and his incredible team… their 5th annual Charity Golf Tournament raised over $36,000! Warm Up For Free Store – Donations by the community, for the community
A big thank you to the members of the community who were involved in this activity that took place at the OCCRC at the beginning of February. For several weeks, seven residents met during several weeks to prepare a location where they could invite people to come and donate, exchange or choose warm winter clothing. The organizers very much appreciated the experience and were very touched by the great comments and positive feedback from the individuals who participated to this activity.
OCCRC Christmas Program
The administration and staff at the OCCRC would like to thank the many donors and volunteers who helped make this year’s Christmas Program a tremendous success. Thanks to their generosity we were able to raise over $58,500 and collect more than 37,600 food items and 700 toys. As a result, we assisted 883 individuals through the program which provides emergency food for families and individuals struggling to make ends meet during the holiday season. The number also includes more than 350 children who received gifts. The success of the program was due in large part to the 115 volunteers who contributed over 870 hours of their time to sort and distribute the toys and staff the food bank. Kudos to everyone.
Village Squares Square Dancing Club
Bob and Gabrielle Forsythe, co-presidents of the Village Squares square dancing club in Orléans, present a cheque for $400 to Orléans-Cumberland Community Resource Centre finance manager Suzanne Wert. The money was raised through member donations and “share the wealth” draws, bringing their 13-year total of funds raised for the OCCRC to more than $6,000.
Ottawa Firefighters Services
The Orleans-Cumberland Commuinity Resource Centre would like to extend our profound thanks to the District 7 Ottawa Volunteer Firefighters and the Kiwanis Club of Orleans for their invaluable support during the Ottawa Firefighters’ food drive that took place this past November. The Kiwanis volunteers joined our resource centre’s team of volunteers and the volunteer firefighters from Cumberland Village, Vars, Navan and Chaqrlemagne Station to collect 31,600 food items that will benefit members of our community who access the Orléans-Cumberland’s Food Bank during the holiday season.
Capital Artisans Guild Christmas Craft Show
We wish to thank the Capital Artisans Guild for their kind support during this year’s Craft Show and the shoppers who generously donated hundreds of food items and cash in support of the food bank as well as many other programs and services offered by the OCCRC.
2016 “Bids for Change” Online Auction
The OCCRC would like to take a moment to thank the people who logged on, bid and helped to make our 2016 Bids for Change Online Auction an overwhelming success! Thanks to you, we were able to raise more than $4,000! We would also like to thank the many local businesses who donated items and made the auction possible.
Navan Arts & Crafts Group Christmas Show
The group held their show this past November in Navan and collected food items and funds for the OCCRC’s annual Christmas Program. We would like to extend our deepest thanks to all those involved in organizing and participating to this event.
OutGROW, OutPLAY Orleans – The OCCRC would like to thank everyone who attended this year’s OutGROW, OutPLAY consignment sale at École secondaire publique Louis-Riel on Oct. 4 & 5 and donated over 700 items to the Food Bank. Your contributions are greatly appreciated.
The Paul Rushforth Real Estate Charity Golf Tournament 2014
The team at Paul Rushforth Real Estate’s hosted the 5th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at the GreyHawk Golf Club. Over $36,000 was raised to support the Orléans-Cumberland Community Resource Centre and The Ottawa Senators Foundation. The OCCRC wishes to thank all the golfers, sponsors and especially the Paul Rushforth Real Estate Team for putting on a first class event.
School Supplies Program 2016
During the past months, our local business partners have assisted us in raising funds for our School Supplies Program to benefit a great number of children and teens in our community. Thank you to Palladium Insurance, Sure Print Orleans & Staples Canada on Tenth Line who also collected funds through their Back To School Supply Drive. This year we are proud to say that thanks to the donations and support we received, we were able to ensure that more than 300 students returned to school prepared for their year ahead.
Navan Veterinary Hospital
Thank you very much to the Navan Veterinary Hospital for organizing their first annual food drive. A large number of food items were donated to the Orléans-Cumberland’s food bank – and just in time for the season holidays.
Cumberland Lions Club
Thank you to the Cumberland Lions Club who organized their Annual Breakfast with Santa in Cumberland on past December and made a generous monetary donation as well as a large amount of food items.
St. Matthew Catholic High School Tigers
We’d like to thank the St. Matthew CHS for their ongoing support. During this past Thanksgiving weekend, the Tigers gathered a large amount of food and cash donations and delivered them to the Orleans-Cumberland’s food bank.
Redeemer Alliance Church Youth Group
Thank you to the very kind and generous support of the youth group from the Redeemer Alliance Church here in Orleans for organizing a food collection on Halloween and donating the items to the OCCRC’s food bank. Great job everyone!
